there was a special hermès sale happening over the weekend in london, and reader "R" kindly informed me of the details. as expected, there were no bags nor accessories, but lots of ready-to-wear and shoes! here's what i came home with:
hermès piccadilly men's boots in mocha calf leather and suede. i have many pairs of shoes, but to be honest nothing comes close to this. the workmanship is amazing, the chocolate brown leather is so soft it fits like a glove, the suede: just sumptuous.
i am not a fan of lace up boots because at times it is difficult to wear, but they were so ingenious so use hooks instead of eyelets for the upper parts, making it more comfortable and easy to wear.
the interior is beautifully lined in buttery soft leather. the attention to detail is amazing.
i am now having a louboutin moment. i want to wear the shoes but i don't want the signature orange soles to get scratched. dilemma!
one more look at the velvety chocolate suede before it goes back into the box
as the shoes were marked down, dustbags doesn't come with it, but they were kind enough to find me 2 dustbags at the till. this shows polite manners and a smile goes a very long way! always store each shoe in one dustbag, or the shoes might be scratched by one another.
beautiful. i promise to work a little harder, grumble less at work, and walk upright with my shoulders pulled back.
the shoes were actually from fall winter 2007, but who cares. did i mention i got this at... 60% off?
i can wear this to work, or feeling dressy i can wear this on weekends too.
bliss. we need more orange(s) in our lives!

The boots are beautiful.....I am smiling on the outside but crying on the inside that San Francisco doesn't get these types of sales! Wear them in good health and remember, I am happy to take any US size 10.5 cast aways :)
ReplyDeleteclark76: i am pretty sure hermes does sales in the US too, you need to ask around. oh i am a US10. you are a big boy, 0.5 bigger
ReplyDeleteThose boots are divine! I love the detailing and that orange sole. Definitely worth braving baked beans for. Here in SG, we dun even have that chance. Grrrr...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the shoe! We do love orange:-) It's the colour for shopping kings and queens!
Size 10?!?!? BIGGGGGG boy!
it's so pristine i think it will be one of my museum piece together with my 2 other unworn shoes and 4 unused bags :s
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! These are the moments I wish I lived in London. :D

ReplyDeleteThis is too good to be kept in isolation. U must flaunt it!
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! First comes the boots with soles in Orange, next comes the Graffiti Keepall in Orange!
ReplyDeletewhy do you always happen to score the most drool-worthy items? these boots are exquisite!
ReplyDeleteI can't even take this right now... you are my idol!

tortured writer: we both have new boots! bootilicious weekend!
Those boots are so nice I swear I could lick them. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteGlad you found something. The Hermes sales are usually held twice a year but always RTW only. I was looking at the same boots in fact as they had them in my size. But, only last week I'd just bought the other pair of Lanvins I was lusting after and as tempting as these looked, I walked away.....on hindsight, maybe I should have got these as well.....great buy and glad to have been able to play a small part in your newest pair of kicks!
ReplyDeletefreshmess: very kinky, didn't realise you're into that arena..
ReplyDeleteR: i knew about the music room sales but never got the chance to go in previous occasions. i did ask the SA at new bond street when this year's sales is but he was rather coy about it. thank you for letting me know! and more lanvins?! which one? share with us!
Loves it.
ReplyDeleteVery, Very, Very nice.
ReplyDeletethanks allan!
ReplyDeletemr hare: thank you, especially coming from a connoisseur like you!
p/s: i checked office, nothing here :'(
wow, they're freakin gorgeous!
ReplyDeletewould you mind sharing how much they were?
STOP giving me heart attacks! LOL
ReplyDeletenothing compares to H does it? :P love the lace-ups and sole. TDF! the H sale in SIN sold out on this pair in my size :(
ReplyDeletekiks: thanks :D mmm i got it at 60% off heh.. well we know how much their shoes costs on avg...
ReplyDeletewecouldgrowup2gether: :D
a. nathaniel: sg has H sale as well? so this does put to rest rumours in tpf that unsold stuff are burned in nyc?! i love this shoe! can't bear to wear it!
And I thought the johnny boots from YSL were to die for. I never knew they had gorgeous lace ups at Hermes?
ReplyDeletehey 00o00, yup Hermes has sales ongoing in Singapore too, but they don't publicize it. they will send invites to regulars and VIPs and also call them up to remind us about the sale. usually RTW stuff, i don't believe they have leather goods on sale like the paris bombays that bruiec spotted in paris!
ReplyDeleteI didn't have much luck with women's Hermes sale in NY but looks like you scored big! Almost too delicious to wear...
ReplyDeletevellure: hermes have gorgeous everything!
ReplyDeletebrook and lyn: tooooo delicious to wear. i've just taken it out of the box, worn it on the carpet, preened in the mirror for 10mins, and placed it back into the pristine box.
bliss
this is the moment then i want to be male. :'(
ReplyDeletethat's the pair of coolness!
***elbe
those shoes are gorgeous. absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeletewhy should dust bags disappear because something goes on sale?
but you are indeed clever, sometimes serviced with a smile works wonders too
-h: thanks for the nice comment :)
ReplyDeletei guess from their point of view, the item is reduced and profit margin decreased so they need to cut back on stuff like that. hermes gives out their signature boxes for all their products, but for items on sale they don't provide the boxes (unless it's shoe boxes)
annoys me sometimes but hey, it's reduced!
a smile goes a l00o00g way :)
Wow that is a nice pair of shoes. They have a very 60s styling to me.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'd ever wear them either. A sick pair indeed.
ReplyDeleteA truly sick pair. I will hunt he earth for them. This I promise.
ReplyDeleteThe boots are great. The orange soles are a great surprise.
