form clothing fall winter 2009

i dropped by matches yesterday to have a look at the fall winter 2009 collection from "form". form is a relatively new label, designed by petra ecclestone. if her last name sounds familiar, yes she's the youngest daughter of formula 1 owner bernie ecclestone.

the collection consisted of very classic wardrobe pieces. although this is a relatively new label, they've gone for the top end finishing touches. the above sweaters were all 100% cashmere. after feeling it, i really don't want to go back to my wool sweaters anymore.

the cashmere sweaters were made from the same factory that produces john smedley sweaters, widely regarded as one of the most established knitwear makers.

the roll neck and double breasted knitwear as featured in their lookbook

you probably can't make out what that is, but it's a cashmere snood. the wraparound thingy on your neck to keep you warm!

tailoring is probably one of their key strengths. they worked with a savile row tailor during their 1st collection, and that formed the grounding for subsequent collections (for the uninitiated, savile row is famous for housing some of the best and most prestigious bespoke tailors in britain). the detailing around the shoulders (same as the rollneck above) is a nod towards the formula one heritage. the elasticised cuffs and zips give it a sporty edge.

an interesting point to note: this coat is made from the same factory that produces tom ford's collections.

my favourite item from them all: the brown napa leather jacket. soft and luxurious to the touch. and brown napa leather jackets never go out of style, i like.

a very luxurious yet sporty collection from form. the collection is available online at matchesfashion. i find it interesting to discover this new collection. seeing and feeling it in person gives it an added dimension. prices might shock, but this is one collection for the man, not the boys.

  3. I agree George that looks very stylish and warm! It is also reminding me that Christmas is soon on its way and whether I should start shopping for the family! I've already spotted a few nice items of clothing at Great Universal but is it really too early to be starting!? :)
