veja + merci special edition sneakers

i love classic white sneakers. they are evergreen and goes with everything in our wardrobes. and now, "evergreen" is even more apt when describing this shoe.

since its launch five years ago, french label veja has integrated fashion and fair-trade with their collections. they are now collaborating with "merci", a fellow french lifestyle store and charity shop. created through this connection is "veja + merci" : an exclusive trainer made with organic cotton canvas.

the organic cotton is grown by a cooperative of producers in brazil with methods not utilising chemicals or pesticides. the sole is made with wild rubber harvested by the local rubber tappers. that's fashion and style with a conscience, i really like their ethos.

the lucky parisians: the classic white sneakers will be available exclusively at merci in paris

i've previously also featured the above trainers made with the same ecological means. for those not living in paris, fret not. a few pairs have made it to the sale at oki-ni, and they ship worldwide. i love love love the pair in green.
