let's forget spring summer 2011 collections for a minute, and keep our focus on what's going to be, or already in stores right now. 'selectism' pointed us towards an interview at "the cut" with christophe lemaire, the new creative director of womenswear at hermès. when asked what should every man have in his closet, he replied "a good pair of shoes that makes you feel comfortable and handsome." when probed further what's something he never left the house without, "a pair of chinese slippers for summer and leather shearling-lined (ankle) boots for winter."
the first thing that came to my mind was the shearling-lined mid calf boots from burberry prorsum. comfortable? definitely. handsome? that's subjective. i had the pleasure to try it on after the show, been lingering in my mind ever since. maybe christophe lemaire would approve. if not, christopher bailey definitely would.

milan, january 2010

as seen on the runway. i also tried on the above "wool felt parade jacket" previously. i guess i can complete the set. the jacket is also available online here.
if you can only pick one item, would you choose the boots or the jacket?

boots, of course.
ReplyDeletelike Kevin said, these seasonal clothes can be found in high-street stores like Zara, for a fraction of what they would cost in designer brands.
true, nothing beats the original but I'd rather save my money (and closet space) for something timeless and/or iconic. like the burberry trench coat, for instance. :-)
the coat.. i know i won't look that good in those boots. but they are really fabulous.
