no we did not queue up at selfridges, but i thought that was a very nice signage. theverysimong, steviebstyle and myself woke up bright and early yesterday morning to queue up outside the h&m store at brompton road, knightsbridge london. it proved to be a good strategic decision, as there were about 80 people ahead of us, and we arrived an hour before the shop opened. i felt the event could have been better planned by h&m as it was mayhem once we were in stores. i don't want to be overly negative, as i did manage to get the pieces i went for.
here's what i got:
here's what i got:

the only piece i really wanted from the collection was the studded leather jacket, and i literally had to dive in to grab one in my size. maybe i wanted it so much and harboured great expectations, i was a little underwhelmed by it. the zips were not round as per stock photos (which i love), and i wasn't totally wowed by it. but i bought it anyway!

i found this leather sleeved and collared wool coat, which did not appear in their lookbook or preview shots. it fitted really well and i reckoned i could get a lot of wear out of it. an unexpected buy, but loving it.

besides the crocodile print t-shirt, i also picked up the above wool and cashmere sweater. it looked great in real life, but i didn't like it on me when i tried it at home. so i am bringing this back to the stores. i rarely return stuff, but madness and chaos do not help me think straight.

well returning the sweater would help to relief some of the financial pain! truly madness, but alleviated by the fantastic company from simon and stevie.

The Coat looks amazing on you! Don't like the qualitiy of the leather jacket! The sleeves could also have a better fit! Don't return the Sweater! :)
ReplyDeleteYou must be the only person on this planet who can manage to spend over £400 in H&M!
ReplyDeleteSurely not!!
ReplyDeleteThe leather jackets shoulders dont look like they fit quite right. The coat is amazing i cant believe that wasnt in the lookbook.I would have bothered to go to hm if i new about it.
ReplyDeletegood that you got the leather jacket but shame that it wasn't as you totally expected. the long coat really suits you man
ReplyDeleteI wasn't going to bother with it all but read your blog entry that morning and decided to go in! The only thing I really wanted was the black leather belt and maybe the jacket. Ended up going to the branch on Oxford Circus, Regent St and the little one on Oxford St. Thought the same as you re: the jacket - bit underwhelming. I was going to buy it but had maxed out my card - thought that was probs a sign! Bought the cashmere jumper which I absolutely love - just think it's really beautiful. Gave up on finding the belt (I didn't get to Oxford Circus til 11.30) and then happened to drop by Selfridges and saw it on a mannequin; the kind manager whipped it straight off there for me and took me to the tills. I was so happy!
ReplyDeleteTell us about the chaos! A sales assistant at Oxford Circus told me 2 guys starting fighting over stuff.
The coat (looks) awesome; strange it wasn't featured more in the publicity.
ReplyDeleteanon: yea the shoulders are a bit off...
ReplyDeletemat: i love the long coat
sharky101: i wanted the belt too but didn't see any at knightsbridge. apparently westfield and brentcross were really quiet. going there in future!
brett: the coat is nice, i'm surprised it wasn't featured previously too...
I love your leather sleeves coat. It looks good on you. But i don't want to buy any piece from this collection because, to me, Versace is so much about HIGH QUALITY and EXCESSIVE LUXURY that, to buy a cheap and not "representative of what the house is about today" collection it's impossible.
ReplyDeleteI want that long coat how much was it?
ReplyDeleteLOIC: agree with you, this is a fun lil collection on the side, take it with a pinch of salt. i won't pretend it's versace quality, but it's a bit of fun.
ReplyDeleteermhmm: it's £179, i can see it's still available online...
Hi mate love the blog - like the long coat on you -what size did you try on and how tall are you - thinking of buying one online...
ReplyDeletethanks
anon: thanks! i tried size 38/48, i'm 6ft or 1.83m tall :)
ReplyDeletecool - am curious to know what you look like!
ReplyDeleteI have a question about your topman ultra skinny pants in the picture. Do you find that it stretches and loses its shape with each use? I have two pairs and can no longer wear them without a belt, even-though they fit perfectly in store!
ReplyDeletegabriel: the trousers stretches as i believe there's a bit of lycra in there. it loosen up a little but i find it gets tighter with each wash. i actually wear them at home at times just to stretch it and not be so tight!
