OpiumOne Macramé Jewellery - Copenhagen International Fashion Fair / @CIFF_DK

During last week's Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF), I came across a range of beautifully hand made and crafted jewellery from Danish label OpiumOne. They utilises a technique called macramé, which is a form of textile-making using knotting rather than weaving or knitting. Precious metals and stones are then added, fusing tradition with luxury. My favourite piece is the above Knot of Eternity red bracelet, accented with a 18k gold piece in the middle. The result is a very subtle and stylish piece of accessory, which accentuates rather than dominates. I paired it with my vintage yellow gold Jaeger LeCoultre watch, and which worked so well together.

The pieces were all produced around the base of the Himalayas. Skilled craftsmen from Dali, from the Yunnan province of China, would put the pieces together using locally sourced materials. The designers are based around the Himalayas too, facing the picturesque Cangshan mountains which no doubt provided them with endless inspiration. As the pieces were knotted rather than weaved, this made the pieces tougher. Loving the above bracelet with the tiger accent, one of 12 Chinese zodiac animals customers could choose from.

I really love the above bracelet. A simple knotted bracelet with gradienting colors, accentuated with a simple 18k gold piece in the middle. Jewellery with ethnic influences can often be tricky to work with, but that just seems effortless. Just that on one hand, or layer up with a few other pieces.

The interesting detail, is the very subtle diamond piece added at the back. Love love love.

For those eschewing gold and diamond pieces with the macramé, one can also choose from a range of precious stones too. An e-shop is currently in the pipeline, and they will also soon offer a bespoke service, where one can choose their preferred style of macramé, together with different options of gold and diamond combinations. You can find out more about OpiumOne at http://www.opiumone.com.

A wonderful discovery for me during the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF). Do you like the pieces?
