Nick Grimshaw was pictured out and about in Primrose Hill in London yesterday. The BBC Radio 1 DJ was with a friend walking the cutest little puppy. But that cute little thing can't take my attention away from Nick, who wore a camel coloured overcoat with inverted lapels from the upcoming Maison Martin Margiela with H&M collaboration.

So very jealous that he got first dibs from the yet to be released collection. I love the coat, a simple piece done in a classic/timeless colour with an added twist to make it interesting but not overly outlandish. It's just classic Margiela isn't it? Loving Nick's styling with simple knitwear, denims and Nike Air Jordans.

The overcoat with inverted lapels was also featured in the Maison Martin Margiela with H&M ad campaign, shot by Sam Taylor-Johnson. The coat will retail for £149.99 when the collection is released on 15th November 2012. Are you excited about the collaboration? I love the coat, and those hand painted boots!

  4. I will be at the pre-launch event on 14th so Im looking forward to seeing what the quality of the items are like. This coat is the piece that caught my eye but it seems to be the most publicised piece from the collection which probably means that it will be the most popular.
As much as I like it, I do wonder about its longevity as a piece of clothing. I have coats from previous colabs such as Lanvin and Commes des garcons and these are timeless pieces that have served me well....Im not so sure I'll be able to same the same about this coat though....we'll see.

    1. it's a classic camel overcoat so i won't worry too much about longetivity. i'm going to pre-launch too, getting excited by the day!

  5. I agree that its classic in colour, but the inverted lapels means that to me its limited to casual wear and not really something I would wear to work with a suit. As a design piece its certainly very interesting and is a break from the norm. Do you know which season the original was from?

There are some interesting pieces in the collection but once again I think that the womens collection has more sought after pieces.

Apart from the coat it only really the Fair Isle sweater and t-shirt and the footwear which has truly caught my attention from a purchase point of view.

Oh...and the jacket of belts is very eye catching but probably not something Id buy. You on the other hand could probably pull it off!

BTW, hows the flat coming along?

    Great blog....always enjoyable and informative.

    1. lots of people wear brown/camel colored coats with suits though. i wouldn't worry too much about the longetivity. i believed the inspiration from the collab were from one of the earlier Margiela collections. i do like the fair isle sweater too. not too keen on the sneakers, it really pale in comparision to the real mccoy.

flat is slowly getting furnished. furniture is so expensive!

  6. I have no problem with the colour, camel is lovely and i have a Paul Smith one which works well with suits or casual wear. Anyway once I see it Im sure I'll be sold on the MMM colab. It will be a good night too Im sure. I'll see if I can spot you!

Yes the pieces are re-issues or remakes of previous MMM collections but I cant remember the coat from previous seasons and I wondered if you knew how long ago it had its first showing?

Yes.....good pieces of furniture are expensive but buy well and you only need to buy once.
