Kevin Hart in Givenchy - BET Networks 2013 Los Angeles upfront

Kevin Hart was pictured with Chaka Khan at the BET Networks 2013 Los Angeles Upfront at the Montage Beverly Hills yesterday. The American actor and comedian wore a statement shirt from Givenchy menswear Fall Winter 2012. Do we like it? I love the shirt itself, if I can still find it now I will definitely get it. It's sometimes kind of difficult to critique menswear. The general idea of masculine beauty is, I guess the muscular form. Waif-ish and skinny male models make clothes look pretty on the runway, but how does it translate down to other body shapes?

No doubting Kevin Hart is all man, look at those bulging muscles. Perhaps putting the runway pic next to him is not a fair comparison. If I was at the event, I would have thought "nice shirt Kevin". I think the shirt worked for him, very much in part down to the red shoes. It would have been a snooze fest if it was the run of the mill black shoes. Good shoes saved the day again.

Do you like Kevin's look for the event?

  1. Please slow down on all the celebrity style :-( I used to love your posts about your own style or experiences. Now it's just press photo after press photo. If I wanted celebrity style I'd visit JustJared! I don't mean to hate, it's only because I remember how good this blog used to be!

    1. I completely get what you are trying to say. I would love to talk about my own style and experiences, but these things take time. I spend 10 hours at work at my full time job, leaving little time for anything else really. I would love to go pose and preen at the dressing rooms every weekend, but it's just not feasible and not a long term viable strategy.

Celebrity style is something I am personally interested in. Say whenever I see Beckham I am fascinated by what he was wearing. JustJared provides breaking celeb news, but it hardly tells you what someone was wearing. I'm taking that one step further, and providing info on where you can get it online. That to me is value adding, not creating additional noise.

The blog has gone from being a hobby and vanity project, to a viable short to long term business for me. Therefore I am now doing something I love without spending far too much time, and I can balance my life better.

Hope you can appreciate the change.

    2. Love the celeb content actually because of the fact that no one else talks about it like you do really. The group of celebrities in the brands that you have featured here hits the sweet spot for me.

I'm sure you'll get back around to one-off style posts

  2. Interesting.... I can totally understand the points that have been made by annon. I have been following your blog for a number of years and yes it certainly has changed over time and the quirky and more personal elements of your character that you shared with us has slowly diminished over time. I see this as a reflection of life... life doesnt stand still and neither should we.

The blog isnt what it used to be no, but it has developed, of that there can be no doubt and if its now become a business venture for you then thats good news. To have something that you love become a vehicle to success in some way, shape or form is a rare thing.

I still enjoy your blog, but for different reasons than I initially did. I would however, ask one thing, try to give us a little more of you if you can from time to time. Its the thing that drew many of us in and possibly the thing that will keep some here too.

  4. Thanks for the response, and I only made that comment because I truly admire you and your work. I guess it's just hard to see something you once loved turn into something someone else loves now. I wish you all the best with the change, and I will be here if you ever decide to open up to us again.
