I dropped by Harrods at Knightsbridge in London on Sunday afternoon to check out their Made-To-Measure event. The store was heaving as expected, with lots of shoppers checking out the new season collections and taking advantage of their 10% Rewards Card promotion. Complimentary champagne and macarons by the Tailoring section definitely helped calm me down I must say. I visited Eton to have my measurements taken, and the master tailor took me through the various options I could have for my Made-To-Measure shirt.
There were many options available with the Made-To-Measure shirt. We started off with fabric selection, and I was presented with many different options, in terms of weaves, colours, thickness etc. Then it was the choice of the type of collars, cuffs, buttons, pockets and monogramming of initials. We pretty much pick all the required elements and the master tailor will put it together.
Types of buttons and threads to go with the shirts.
Collars. Cut-away? Buttoned down? The selections were mind boggling.
My measurements, do they mean anything to you? After a good hour at the store with the master tailor, my measurements together with my shirt components selection, are sent to Sweden where work will commence on my special Made-To-Measure shirt. The shirt will be hand made per the instructions and measurements, and will take about four to six weeks to be ready. Truly exciting times, and all I can do now is wait, and make sure I do not put on any weight. The Made-To-Measure shirt will be a nice Christmas present to myself. Did you visit the event over the weekend? Let me know!
