Matthew McConaughey attended the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 12, 2014 in Beverly Hills, California. Matthew McConaughey was awarded the Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama for 'Dallas Buyers Club'. Matthew looked jubilant in a three piece green velvet tuxedo with contrasting lapels from Dolce & Gabbana.

He certainly stood out amongst the sea of black. It was a brave choice of attire, I love colours on the red carpet and was absolutely delighted to see him in the green velvet tuxedo. It was a triumphant occasion for him, he went through a lot for the movie, so I don't want to rain on his parade (too much). The attire looked a little heavy, especially with the matching waistcoat. But I am really looking forward to the movie, I applaud Matthew McConaughey for taking risks in his career and on the red carpet.

Matthew McConaughey was not the first to be publicly spotted with the green three piece velvet tuxedo from Dolce & Gabbana. British artiste Tinie Tempah wore the same outfit to the Harpers Bazaar awards back in November 2013. The look was similar, but Tinie wore fitted cropped trousers and matching velvet slippers, which lightened the overall heavy velvet look. Matthew's shoes were a little heavy for the occasion. Both men certainly were not to be outdone by their dates for the evening.

Who looked better in Dolce & Gabbana, Matthew McConaughey or Tinie Tempah?

  1. A close call, but I think Tinie tipped it for me. Looks a bit more... quirky on him.
