Anthony Wong Yiu-Ming [黃耀明] performed in Hong Kong on 14th and 15th March at the Hong Kong Coliseum. The Hong Kong artiste wore a series of outfits, styled to his usual flamboyance. Even with the elaborate and dramatic headpiece, the above style with the floral Gucci suit from Spring Summer 2014 was actually one of the tamest.

Growing up in Asia, I love Anthony Wong's music. It was a cross between moody atmospheric and glorious electronica catchy pop, perhaps at times inspired by The Pet Shop Boys. I have not been keeping up with his new works much, but his song [春光乍洩] is still one of my favourites. I think that song also inspired Wong Kar Wai's "Happy Together", one of my favourite movies from one of my favourite directors. So my favourite things tend to link together.

The Gucci suit was beautiful, but wished the trousers were hemmed better though.

Then came the grey faux mohawk, matching the lightning print suit from Moschino Spring Summer 2014. Love this look, and where else can one wear a lightning print suit?

It got more interesting (or bizarre?), when the wooden prop came in. A tribute to British designer Craig Green perhaps? It looked a little comical, and I wished the actual piece from Craig Green was used, it would be amazing on stage.

Then we have this rather Gareth Pugh-y outfit, but my eyes were on the Giuseppe Zanotti sneakers with a golden metallic crocodile on the side. Very random I know, but I want those sneakers so much. I had them on my rotating wishlist section a while back.

And I am not sure what was happening here but I still love you Anthony Wong. I thought the outfit was from Junn. J but I could not find a match. Any suggestions?

edit: 19 March 2014: Thanks to reader 'rianwon', Anthony Wong wore Kay Kwok Fall Winter 2014. This is total amazingness!

We certainly live in an age of nostalgia. These are artistes I listen to and worship when I was in my teens. I love seeing these pictures of Anthony Wong, it brings back so many memories. In life we have to soldier forward, but the past makes us stronger. The past is a familiar place, and we love familiar places and faces. It is only human that we dislike change. Reminiscing is a nice thing, but dwelling is quite another. Went a little off topic there, but lately I have been thinking about all sorts. About mortality, about life, about happiness, about lunch and that pair of shoes. All sorts.

  3. I think he being a performer it needs to entertain and performers tend to carry looks that are, somehow, unreachable cause where else can you wear something like that? Maybe a photoshoot but I think this is absolutely brilliant!

Being from the Dominican Republic where I tend to see a lot more conservative performers I like to see new ones from a lot of other countries and I think those in the Asian continent beat the crap out of the rest. I am familiar with some bands like B2ST, Big Bang and 2NE1 and I think the bring it, and hard, they definitely entertain and it is exactly the thing that is being looked up. I applaud this guy.
