Director Steve McQueen and producer Bianca Stigter attend the Oscars held at Hollywood and Highland Center on 2 March 2014 in Hollywood, California. By now, you should have known that Steve McQueen took home the grand prize of the ceremony: "Best Picture" for '12 Years A Slave'. Steve McQueen suited up in a classic black tuxedo, and accessorised with a beautiful Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Open Hometime timepiece.

Yes Brad Pitt looked absolutely amazeballs at the Oscars. He is looking after half the world's kids, credited as co-producer on "12 Years A Slave" and he still managed to look damn mighty fine. What is the secret sauce?

Sorry got side tracked there. I love Steve McQueen's timepiece. I featured the Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec timepiece on here a few times, it is truly one of my favourite watches. There are lots of amazing technical details on the watch, I won't pretend that I can comprehend them all. However from an aesthetic point of view, the watch is breath-taking. Here is the official watch in all its glory:

I had the chance to try the Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec timepiece at the Montblanc flagship store at Mandarin Gallery in Singapore when I was there in September last year. Thought I'll share with you some of my pictures:

The above is not the exact watch that Steve McQueen wore at the Oscars, but is the Montblanc 'Nicolas Rieussec' Open Hometime in 18k gold. Isn't that just stunning and makes your heart goes aflutter?

That is me, trying on the gorgeous Montblanc 'Nicolas Rieussec' Open Hometime in 18k gold. I don't know what it feels like to hold the Oscar statue, but I know it felt damn great when I tried on the timepiece. I can only imagine what Steve McQueen felt when he had both.

Details you do not see on the red carpet: the intricate backing of the timepiece, so so beautiful.

They say accessories maketh the man. I wore a classic check shirt and blue chinos, the casual of most casuals, but you have to agree with me that the elegant timepiece pulled the whole look together. I thought the size and fit of the watch was perfect.

Here is the Montblanc 'Nicolas Rieussec' Open Hometime in stainless steel. Equally stunning isn't it?

Ahhh. Ok now back to work, as you do, so we can appreciate these fleeting moments in time. I always say a timepiece should be bought / invested to celebrate an event or milestone in life. I am bidding for my moment, but I must say that was an amazing moment for Steve McQueen at the Oscars.
