Jamie Campbell Bower / Vivienne Westwood | Vivienne Westwood Fall Winter 2014
Vivienne Westwood launched her much anticipated uniform line for Virgin Atlantic on 1 July 2014 in London. Following the announcement of the partnership last year, Sir Richard Branson and Dame Vivienne Westwood joined a host of famous faces at a major red carpet event to see the grand unveiling.
British artiste Jamie Campbell Bower was in attendance at the event, and wore an oversized kitten print t-shirt and bondage strapped trousers from Vivienne Westwood. Love the hat which kept his tresses in place, thought Jamie Campbell Bower looked really stylish and fun. Don't think many can pull off such a style with aplomb, but this suits him very nicely. Dan Stevens - Vivienne Westwood | Vivienne Westwood Fall Winter 2014
Ex Downton Abbey actor Dan Stevens also attended the event, and was pictured in one of my favourite pieces from Vivienne Westwood Fall Winter 2014: the Queen Elizabeth print sweatshirt with a safety pin piercing. Isn't that just fabulous? Without the blazer, the sweatshirt might have been too "out there" for Dan Stevens. Love this look, cheeky fun beneath the otherwise serious persona. Luke Evans, Douglas Booth / Vivienne Westwood | Vivienne Westwood Fall Winter 2014
Luke Evans and Douglas Booth both chose a similar colour block look. Luke Evans opted for a full khaki suit with gorgeous brown lace-up shoes, which Douglas Booth wore the colour block blazer over a white t-shirt, black shorts and white sneakers. Two similar jackets yet very contrasting styles, which look do you prefer?
I like Douglas Booth's idea to pair the blazer with the shorts, but not really feeling the somewhat lifeless hair and peek of his black socks. Luke Evans looked really good, but perhaps missing the somewhat playful attitude Douglas Booth brought, which I thought was synonymous with Vivienne Westwood.
The new uniforms for Virgin Atlantic: Original design and sustainability are top of the priority list for Vivienne Westwood and Virgin Atlantic in this long term partnership: upheld through intelligent cuts; beautiful tailoring; as well as polyester yarn made from recycled plastic bottles and a nano finish to extend the garments life and retain colour. Vivienne Westwood’s design references her enduring interest in 40s French couture cutting, with a double breasted ‘drape coat’ for women, and updating the classic red shoe with Westwood’s iconic hourglass heel. Male crew will be provided with a sharp Saville Row inspired three piece suit with a contemporary twist in a deep burgundy Oxford weave wool.
Over 7,500 staff including cabin crew, pilots, Clubhouse staff and Virgin Holidays employees will receive the new uniform consisting of 22 pieces in total. We will be able to see the uniform onboard Virgin Atlantic flights and airports from 1st September later this year.
